I used Imus Seal to cover my 30+ year old pressure treated joists before installing Trex. I'm confident that the joists will last the life of the Trex because of the amazing sticking and sealing ability of the seal.
Great sealing tape ! Costly but very good .
Recently I installed joist covers on a small deck. They work well. I will use them when I rebuild my much larger deck.
Happy with the product
Really works as described.
Fantastic stuff! Our 15-year old cedar deck was constructed using pressurized lumber as the sub structure. We are replacing the top with TREX Enhance decking. We decided to flash the 2 x 8's and the 2 x 10's with Imus flashing. It has an extreme adhesive backing which makes it adhere to the 15-year old boards covering all nail and screw holes. It rained for three days straight after we installed the flashing - before we could install the new TREX - and the joists of the structure stayed dry. Highly recommend and definitely a five-star rating! So glad we made this decision. . .

Paper thin. appears to be a very thin piece of plastic. Not at all what I wanted
Quality product. Would not build a Deck without using this product!
I had to tear off the old cedar decking from my deck. As the joists are also cedar some had some surface rot and are full of old nail holes. Still structurally sound but would have continued to deteriorate without placing the Imus Caps over them. Hopefully I've extended the life of my deck joists for another 30 years.
The joist tape exceeded my expectations. It was easy to apply. It even stuck to damp wood. This tape really made the deck sound solid when walking on it. Will use this on all future deck projects.
This is a great idea, of which I had been searching for. It popped up on Amazon website and I checked it out. Since I am redoing my deck, this will help protect the joists from water penetration.
I’m using this tape as I replace deteriorated deck boards on my 25-year old cedar deck. Prior to Imus Seal I’d used the silver window seal tape, but A. Because of its width, wasted a lot of tape on the 2 by joists , and B. The silver was visible and unattractive to see through the gaps in the deck boards. Imus Seal is exactly the right width and is basically invisible between the boards. It’s also very easy to apply.
Excellent product, easy to apply (except in high winds-ha), and seems very cost effective.
Thanks for developing this product! It was easy to install and cut.
It will be a great addition to my business and customers need this!
I bought one stick in order to protect a cantilevered ledger board that is part of my aluminum/vinyl pergola (Heartland Pergolas). The 2 x 8 beam extends out about 3 ft from the house corner and therefore is not flashed. I used the cap to provide protection for this one wood piece on the pergola. I painted it to match and it looks great. The good thing is that this board should now last the life of the pergola since it won't have rain and snow soaking into the board. If I had done a wood pergola, this product would have been perfect protection for all the joists, which was the point of failure on the previous wood one. I wish I had known about it (if it existed) 20 years ago when we had our deck redone.
Fast delivery. Easy install. Does what it is supposed to do. Great.
I used the Imus Seal tape which worked well for my replacing my wood deck floor with trex. Once I removed the old treated deck boards and their rusted screws (which weren't supposed to rust), I cleaned off the deck frame, filled the old screw holes in the frame, fixed a few minor rotted spots with epoxy, stained the frame and added the IMUS seal tape. It is best to do this in the shade or on a cooler day if possible since the gum like adhesive becomes soft when hot. If you get the adhesive on your hands or tools, it cleans off with mineral spirits. I found that making a small cut across the tape with a box knife and stretching the tape made the white cover stretch and become much easier to grab ahold of. Once you have the end of the white cover separated from the adhesive, put one end of the tape down and pull the cover off from underneath while you smooth the tape into place. Then try to not walk on the tape since it will move easily and it is hard to pull back into place. I used old boards over the tape to walk on as needed. I slid the trex pieces over boards until mostly in place and then removed the boards to finalize the position and screw the trex in place using hidden fasteners. This was all a lot of work, but the result is worth the effort.
Very nice. Easy to install. Black color is nice so you cannot see. price is right.
Easy online ordering and payment, rapid delivery, and quick install of Imus Cap on a small balcony deck. One more balcony deck to refurbish, I will install Imus Cap on it. I wish I knew about Imus Cap several years ago, I would have used it on a new deck joists installed at my home.
